Patricio O’Ward made a new mark in Karting during his time with J3 Competition, which initiated in 2010 in the popular cadet Mini 60 category.  The young driver form Texas with Mexican heritage took one of his first official competitions with J3 at the 2010 Vortex RoK Cup Final in Lonato, Italy.  O’Ward took the trip with J3 and after only two days of testing (rest of the field were on site the entire week prior) the driver made a strong mark by qualifying at the front of the field and with challenging heat races the team qualified for the official final, a feat in itself.  The final was under tricky rain conditions where O’Ward was a mere corner away from the championship win, eventually crossing the line in fourth place! The result was the best by any American driver in the cadet category at the time and started the new trend of American drivers taking part in the RoK Cup program, and path indefinitely paved by J3.

The team followed the RoK Cup closely just one month later at the SKUSA Super Nationals where O’Ward competed in the inaugural Mini 60 category where he claimed the most famed prizes of all – Super Nationals Champion!  These results galvanized the successful team of O’Ward and J3 Competition.  The tandem continued through the 2011 season with many successes including vice-champion of the prestigious Florida Winter Tour as well as great results in RMAX and Pan Am events.

Since his successful time with J3, Patricio has went on to compete in LMP, F4 and Pro Mazda with continued winning success.  Presently competing with Andretti Autosport in the Indy Lights series, Pato has already found the top step and his future looks brighter than ever.
