COMPKART Starts August With BIG Wins!
August 3, 2020
A massively successful start to the month of August with the COMPKART brand taking big wins in England as well as the United States! With the hectic 2020 season finally settling in the calendar of actual racing is back strong and the teams across the world on COMPKART came out in August to capture a successful start to the summer month.
The largest one-off race event and a seasonal highlight in England, the KARTMASTERS GP took place at PF International Circuit in Licolnshire UK. With full grids in every category the three day event was massively attended with the best British drivers alongside world-class live coverage. The COMPKART brand was well represent in both the MINI and X30 Sr. by MLR COMP and ST Racing both professional authorized race teams under the COMPKART UK banner. The event was showcased by the premier X30 Sr. category where COMPKART had three drivers (Oliver Hodgson, Ben Hodge, Archie Tillett) all three drivers showed pace with Hodgson maintaining a winning pace from the first practice session onward. Hodgson had trouble in qualifying with an irregular tire, however once rectified the Englishman moved his COMPKART through the heats and pre-final to start the final in third place. After a set of tricky opening laps, Hodgson was able to settle in and with approx five laps to go snatched the lead in a brilliant move which he carried on to the end and claimed the win and prestigious title of KARTMASTERS GP champion!
Also noted was young Lewis Bird aboard his COMPKART under the ST Racing banner in the Mini category. The young driver had the ultimate chance to win the final and in the last laps battled hard and secured another podium for the brand with a very solid third place finish.
It was a busy start to the month in America with competitive racing at three famed racing circuits; Battle at Brickyard (Indianapolis Motor Speedway), CKT (Pikes Peak International Raceway) and RoK Cup Fest (Charlotte Motor Speedway). The first event was attended by COMPKART partner HMG with several drivers abroad the fluo machines, the team took the most prestigious event win in Shifter 175 with Devon Harden making it a back-to-back for the brand. Closely followed to Harden were the likes of Kennedy and Batt who both secured great results as well. Not to be outdone, Brandon Reed secured another solid podium finish for himself and the chassis line in the Shifter masters category.
Crossing back further east to Charlotte, COMPKART partner Timmy Tech was supporting the RoK Cup event and secured tremendous results. First, junior driver Westin Workman who continues to excel under the Timmy Tech guidance won the overall in RoK Jr. taking the top step along with an entry to the RoK Super Final. Teammate Logan Cozzie also notched a win in the RoK Masters category and in doing so earned himself a trip to the RoK Super Final in late 2020.
We cross back to the western region to end the weekend with the Colorado Karting Tour event at Pikes Peak International Raceway. The part temporary, part permanent facility always yields exciting racing and the team at Forward Direction Motorsports were dialed up to win in nearly every category from the cadet to the senior ranks.
